QuickScale App Reviews
The practice of saying that “all features” are "now free", and then informing you that batch processing is an extra $7 is a bait-and-switch tactic. I don’t appreciate that.
Since moving from Windows to OSX I have been looking for a flexible batch resizer... Although there indeed are many, this one is different, as it is a mix of all the features I needed, namely: dynamic file naming for the resized images, on-the-fly filetype conversion, and most important: ability to scale vertical and horizontal images using the same settings in one pass (e.g. 300x200px and 200x300px). I would be happy if it was a freeware app, but since it does not cost a fortune, it is worth to be bought, as the system image viewer, although it does the job, it takes ages to resizebig photos. For this nifty app, it is really seconds!
I havent posted many reviews of products I have purchased, but I wanted to make sure that I posted one for QuickScale. It truly is a great product. Its stable, VERY fast and the support of the developer is outstanding. I process a lot of images and use Photoshop all the time to do actions for me, but I really needed a utility to help do batch editing and renaming. I couldnt ask for anything better. It processes thousands of images in the blink of an eye. The real bonus is that the developer actually cares to listen to their customer. I wrote them to ask about adding in features for future versions and I couldnt believe it when I read my email a day later that they were working on it to get into the next release. That means a lot to me and will definitely make me a supported of CodingMammoth for a long time.
QuickScale is absolutely fantastic! I had a need to scale images on a regular basis and firing up Photoshop every time was a chore. I got what I needed but it always seemed like a lot of power to answer a small need. Sure, there are easier ways, but I was never satisfied with the quality of the scaled images. Then I found QuickScale! The scaled images it produced were as good as I could get from Photoshop. Better yet, it was quick and easy to get in and out and get the job done. Its is a well thought out and executed app. I also have to recommend the excellent customer service they provide. I had a small glitch and the developer was all over it immediately. I received personal and prompt attention. Issue solved! This well worth the incredibly low price!
I took a chance on this one after reading the original two reviews and was not let down. I needed to rezise images for my website and I wanted something that would be quick. The actual resize process for 7 images took about a second and the results were great. I have not tried the batch rename option and I only used this for reducing the size of the images, but so far I have absolutely no complaints. This does exactly what it says it does and for me that warrants a 5 star rating.
I have a lot of photos on my mac, and im adding more all the time. They take up a huge amount of space on my drive, and most of them are much larger than I really need them to be, thanks to the camera "megapixel" race. My plan is to keep a few of the best shots at full resolution, for better print quality. The rest I will scale down to smaller pixel dimensions, and add slightly stronger jpeg compression, to free up 30-60% of the disc space they use. I have been looking for a good simple image batch-processing app for a long time, tested many of them, and finally found QuickScale -- it is DEFINITELY THE BEST! It looks and works like modern Mac software, so its a pleasure to use - unlike other apps that look like theyre 10 years old (from OS9), 10 days old (still a prototype), or just too "cutesy" to be useful and powerful. QuickScale retains the color of the original photo - unlike some apps that squashed, dimmed, or shifted the color, or even completely corrupted the image. Currently on v3.9.3, QuickScale is fairly "mature" software (not too old, not too new). And the developer is incredibly responsive.. I emailed a question, and got a thoughtful and helpful response within a few hours. QuickScale is also very reasonably priced, and theres even a Trial, so its really a no-brainer. I hope this guy writes more softwre!
This is a great application and saves me a lot of time. Just drag, select my size from my custom preset, and watch the progress bar scream across the screen. Ive recently contacted the author with a suggestion and he assured me that it would be in one of his planned release. I rccomend this application highly.
What a joke
Dear Developers, You have no clue what you have released. Oh, for the people who want to buy this… It doesnt work on retina displays. WHat a joke.
Some problems in retina display?
This app has been tested and has some problems size will be doubled with the macbook pro retina display.?????
Retina Support
I absolutely love this app but took 2 stars off because of no retina support. Now that they fixed that, I gave it 5 stars and am a very happy camper!
Great app!
Does an excellent job of doing batch scaling of images by percentage - either smaller or larger!
I have no idea why developers constantly do this. Much clumsier to use now than it was before, and less reliable — sometimes the “Overwrite Images” option doesn’t overwrite anything, and it asks for access to the same folder multiple times while processing images for that folder.
